from March 6 to April 6 2017.

Prof. Sonia Bergamaschi is visiting the Big Data Lab (headed by prof. Roberto Zicari) of the CS departement Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universitat di Frankfurt the 22nd and 23rd of February 2017.

Prof. Sonia Bergamaschi is the expert reviewer for the quality of Finnish reasearch in Computer Science. Helsinki, 16th February 2017.

Prof. Sonia Bergamaschi is going to present Big Data activities of the CINI consortium, Tuestday at BigDat 2017. 

We are looking for a junior or senior developer to join our data science team.  You will create dynamic web-based portals, applications, and user interfaces. You will be responsible for taking early stage concepts to create wireframes and refine those wireframes into deployable code. Ideal candidate would have practical experience with various databases, data analysis, and big data techniques and packages. The person should be self-starter and should be able to work with various open source tools.
- At least 2 years of experiences in developing user interfaces and dynamic web applications
o AngularJS, JavaScript, and Spring framework
o SSO, LDAP tools or open sources
- Experiences in big data stack – Hadoop, NoSQL, RDBMS
- Experiences in automated build, deploy, testing and virtualization tools (Docker, Jenkins, Maven)
- Knowledge with Google Map APIs

- Knowledge in Spark, Neo4j, MongoDB, Impala/Hive, Hbase
- Knowledge in machine learning tools such as R, Python packages, and Spark MLlib

The Frankfurt Big Data Lab is announcing 

Data Challenges WS 2016

(Winter Semester 2016/2017)

Course Description: Students will take part to two Data Challenges. One offered by Deutsche Bahn AG and one offered by ING-DiBaBank.

Eligibility: Bachelor Students, Master Students, and PhD students across multiple disciplines are encouraged to attend the kickoff and to sign up for one Data Challenge.

Students in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Computer Science, and others will form teams of 2 to explore the questions posed.  Team members are required to attend the kick-off lecture to sign-up for this project.

Course Registration:  You have to register for the Data Challenge WS 2016 in the form below. Registration is preferable in teams of 2 persons. Deadline for registration is Thursday, 20.10.2016.
